Hipsters in LIC

I went to the first Warm Up at PS1 of the summer.

I think all of Brooklyn was there.

Look at them.

Utley

Oh and I made a new friend in Philly this afternoon. She said her name was Chase.

Citizens Bank Park

It was an overcast day in Philly and I was there to see the first game of a day-night doubleheader (to make up a rain-out in April). The Mets won 6-5.

Origami Convention Weekend 2007

I'm happiest either when I'm at the Origami Convention folding or when I'm dancing to old school (70s) disco or when I'm eating/cooking something really tasty with friends. I wish there was a way I could combine all three.

I managed two out of three this weekend. Waking up at 6am to get to FIT by 8am. Folding until midnight, maybe later. Running around to get V's party all set and ready (so freaking stuffed, I don't think it's humanly possible to consume more pork). But everything worked out great. Thanks S & J! I'm just exhausted now.

Again, here are a couple of shots of stuff that I folded over the weekend and I'll post the rest to flickr. (By the way I gave all the models away, so if you want one, I'll gladly teach you how to make them yourself.)

You can also try this flickr stream for those that can't wait for my photos.

The Only Way To See New York

Yep, I rode the Circle Line today, all around the hilly island. Here are a few pics. I'll post the rest on flickr.

All Caught Up

KL came down for some lunch (Wild Ginger) and gelato (Ciao Bella). HYB came by after work for pizza (Lombardi) before our MJ fest (turned Blokus Trigon) party.

Telepan

The awesomeness starts now with my first visit to Telepan. I don't even remember what we had that night. It's just a haze of tastiness and wine (with sideburns).

Updates (of a sort)

I'm not happy and I'm not sad.
I'm healthier than I was since my last post 2 months ago (lost about 15 lbs and the cholesterol levels are normal).
I'm not sure that I'll be going to Vancouver in November.
This next week is going to be awesome.
And I'll try to backfill the events starting with my visit to DC.

Father's Day 2007

The folks came over for breakfast. I cooked, we ate. Drank coffee. We made plans for dinner at their place. Mom's typically great cooking. We're spoiled. I can tell it's getting harder for her, but she just loves cooking for us. She's still a fantastic cook.
We all came back to our place after dinner to watch the Mets v Yankees on the HD screen (so I missed the Beer for Bags party). Mom still loves baseball. My dad still gets so annoyed at all the hootin' and hollerin' she does during games, probably because he always falls asleep while watching. But she was always on our side and while we were growing up she would let us watch baseball late into the night, even when the NY teams were on road trips to the west coast (10pm starts!).

Mina's Birthday

Woke up early and watched my DVR recording of 2046.

MC was a having a birthday party in her 'hood. We would have been there right on time, but I was hungry and we stopped off at a pizza place nearby, Vinnie's. I ordered my slices of sausage and pepper pizza and a lemon icee for my friend. Well I'm no good at writing stories, good in the telling maybe, but not in the writing, so I'll leave that to others. Suffice it to say that it was not in fact sausage pizza, but vegan sausage pizza.

We ambled over to Soft Spot and joined the rest of the party. The birthday girl seemed surprised I showed up so late (for me that is, we arrived 30 minutes into the party). High points of the party included meeting an erstwhile Sunnysider and a woman that bore a striking resemblance to Phoebe Cates's character's friend in Private School...for Girls.

Actually, I think the high point of the night was catching the L train just as it was about to leave the Bedford subway station! That must have saved us at least 30 minutes of travel time. Yeah, that was pretty awesome.

They Love Us Guys

My bro and I saw Ocean's Thirteen before we headed to an early Father's Day game of poker in Tudor City. This third movie sucked less than the second one.

The poker players said they missed us at the games because we make it more fun for everyone (they refer to us as "the Brothers"). I guess it feels good to be missed now and then.

Tasty Tasty Times

I saw Wendy again! And she remembered me which was awesome. All meat for me tonight. I almost got V to dance with me. Would've been the first time since the wedding. I'll get her next time.

Origami Paper and Heroes

Helped sort the paper for the upcoming convention and then off to another potluck. I was so spacey from lack of sleep I almost missed Michele's thing. And I finally got to play Guitar Hero II. Yay!

(Red) Potluck

The June installment of our gathering. The Strawberry Fair was the same day and I spent a lot of time inside the yard of the neighboring All Saints Church, where I went to nursery school. (1st in my class! I might have been the only kid able to read and do multiplication at that point in our young lives.)

Anyway, having a sous chef around made the cooking easier and more fun. The cheesy pork chop recipe is always a crowd pleaser, though I think people preferred the chicken marsala.

Blue Velvet Cake!

Sheepish

A picnick in Central Park, but rain (the threat of it anyway) cut it short. Damn.

Had lunch at (The Mercer) Kitchen.

Twelve Years of Love

I've been to every summer production at the Delacorte since 1995's production of the Tempest. So there was no way I was missing Romeo and Juliet, the first of the two productions this summer. I just love outdoor theater. They could have spent the entire play throwing fruit at each other and I would have been happy.
Except I wasn't. Happy. The hole in my heart (metaphorically speaking) feels like it's getting bigger.

Sripraphai

I had a whole messload of events lined up for tonight, but we just walked to Woodside for some Thai food. I was craving some of that newfangled Korean fried chicken, but the boys didn't seem interested.

I love HCHS

This was awesome. I made a dollar butterfly for a Chimp Daddy.
